MOC 2014 - Mediterranean Open Championship, the 10th edition in Tuscany from 13th to 15th March The World class sprint distance specialists: Mårten Boström (FIN), Matthias Kyburz (SUI), Jerker Lysell (SWE), Daniel Hubmann (SUI), Heidi Martensson (NOR) and Maja Alm (DEN) will be attending MOC 2014 The next deadline for the entries is 28th February!!! Don’t miss it!!! MOC 2014, important edition because of the 10th anniversary, will be held in Tuscany, in three stages, two sprints and one middle distance, from 13th to 15th March. The opening race will be in the Park of the SPA-town of Montecatini, the second in the sea-pine forest of Cecina and the final stage will take place in Firenze in the Cascine Park. Up to today there are 250 entries representing 16 countries. It's extraordinary the participation of the best world sprint runners, guided by the current sprint World Champion Mårten Boström (FIN), by the sprint World Champion 2012 Matthias Kyburz (SUI), by the three times World Cup winner Jerker Lysell (SWE), by Daniel Hubmann (SUI) 4 times World Champion and 17 times World Cup winner. On the woman side, the precious presence of the current Sprint Junior World Champion Heidi Martensson (NOR) and of Maja Alm (DEN), sprint vice-World Champion 2012. Curiosity: an Olympic Champion at MOC The Estonian Jüri Tarmak, Olympic World Champion in High Jump in 1972 in Munich, will take part to MOC 2014 - Mediterranean Open Championship in M65 category. He is currently a great expert and passionate trainer of orienteering. Next deadline: The next deadline for the entries is 28th February. To enter the races, fill in the form here: http://www.orienteering.it/race_subscription.php?subsite=n090913_111503 Born on the international experience of Park World Tour, the main series of international orienteering races in the historical centres and city-parks, the MOC (Mediterranean Open Championship) Orienteering answered to the need of strengthen an yearly international orienteering event in the Mediterranean area. The first edition of Mediterranean Open Championship took place in 2005 in Salento, with races in Carovigno, Gallipoli, Otranto and Brindisi. In March 2006 MOC was taken to Sicily and Basilicata, with stages in Palermo and Lagonegro. In March 2007 MOC was back in Puglia, hugging Bari district (In the historical centres of Bari, Altamura, Bosco della Difesa Grande of Gravina di Puglia), Salento (Torcito di Cannole Park, Carovigno) and Taranto district. In 2008 MOC staged in Policoro (Basilicata) and in Oria. In 2009 again in Taranto district. Gargano Park and the historical centres of Vico, Ischitella, Rodi and Peschici hosted the edition in 2010. In 2011 MOC was all in Sicily, between Selinunte, Sciacca and Belice Valley. Extraordinary edition in Rome in 2012, and back in 2013 in Puglia with the final stage in Matera.
