20/03/2018 - MOC Mediterranean Open Championship Orienteering 2018 – XIV edition Daniel Hubmann (SUI) conquers a “triplete” at MOC 2018; for the women first success for Natalia Gemperle (RUS). Really proud that MOC Camp has been chosen by IOF again, to test the new Wo

TARRAGONA – Also on the Spanish land, Daniel Hubmann legitimates as “el Rey” of the fourteenth edition of MOC – Mediterranean Orienteering Championship - held for the first time in Catalunya thanks to the collaboration between PWT Italy and a team of clubs of Federation Orientaciò Catalunya, coordinated in this occasion by Sebastián Ordóñez Ibáñez and the club Montsant Orientaciò of Tarragona. On the highest step of the podium, together with the Swiss Daniel Hubmann, eight times World Champion and already winner of the 2014 and 2017 editions of MOC Championship, there was the Russian Natalia Gemperle, “aficionada” of the Mediterranean Orienteering Championship, who imposed her class, and after the title of Vice-Champion in Sprint last year, decided to re-start from the sunny Espana to prepare at her best the challenge of the World title 2018. The rich experience of the organisers permitted to offer races of high technical level, the triptyque of the races in Montblanc-night sprint, Los Castillejos-long distance, and Tarragona-long sprint challenged the abilities and the physical preparation of the many Elite runners joining the event. The MOC of this year - besides the important numbers of 1.000 athletes overall taking part (between MOC TOUR in Barcelona, MOC Camp in Berga, and MOC Championship in Tarragona), with 38 countries represented – also proposed a week of specific preparation for the sprint races, thanks to the MOC training Camp promoted by PWT with the coordination of Emil Wingstedt, and the technical support of the Club Orientaciò Berguedà, which permitted to IOF to test and deepen the study of the best formula to adopt for the next urban World Championship of 2020 in Denmark. XIV edition of MOC 2108 Mediterranean Orienteering Championship Results best 6 overall Women 1 Natalia GEMPERLE; 2 Anna DVORIANSKAIA; 3 Kirsi NURMI, 4 Sari ANTTONEN, 5 Andrine BENJAMINSEN, 6 Jo SHEPHERD, 21.
