Training camp with the swedish and finnish national teams From January 6 to 15, four Park World Tour Italia athletes took part in the Barbate training camp together with the Swedish and Finnish national teams, two of the strongest programs on the international scene. Today, Monday 5th of January, in Tonadico, in the Primiero Valley, the athletes of the Park World Tour Italia gathered for the official kick-off of the 2026 season. The day began with a moment of remembrance at the Tonadico cemetery, where Mattia Debertolis, a teammate who passed away prematurely last August, is laid to rest. It was a heartfelt gesture to remember their friend in the places where he grew up and to gather around his family. In Belgium, four PWT Italia athletes lined up for the European Championships. Among them, Mattia should have been there too. The European Orienteering Sprint Championships in Hasselt, Belgium, were a whirlwind of emotions, adrenaline, and unexpected turns. On the morning of Tuesday, August 19, over a thousand people gathered to honor the memory of our athlete, Mattia Debertolis, who passed away the previous Monday during an orienteering competition at the World Games in Chengdu, China. The mass was celebrated outdoors, in a meadow of Val Canali against the backdrop of the Pale di San Martino - the home of Mattia, where he took his first steps and ran his first orienteering trainings. In Mechelen, Belgium, a real taste of international competition: over the weekend of August 2-3, the test races for the upcoming European Orienteering Championships took place. This year’s edition, focused on sprint disciplines, will be held in Hasselt from August 27 to 31. The races, which saw strong international participation, served as a useful preview of what’s to come in a few weeks. The World Cup is one of the most eagerly awaited events of the international orienteering season: this year the first round will be held in Idre Fjäll, Sweden, from 18th to 22nd June. This weekend, two rounds of the Italian Cup were held in the enchanting Primiero Valley: a sprint in Mezzano and a long race in Passo Cereda.
