This weekend the appointment was the 2 days of the Resegone, including a race in Merate, valid for the Sprint Race Tour, and the Coppa Italia Middle in Fuipiano. Both were World Ranking Events. The only athlete of the PWT Elite Team running was Sebastian Inderst, while Anna Giovannelli had to forfeit due to an injury, we wish her a fast recovery!
In the little town of Merate the organizing club Polisportiva Besanese offered courses of high level, with many route choices alternated to more physical legs, resulting in a very interesting sprint race! Sebastian had a regular race, ending just outside the podium, some seconds behind Andrea Seppi, Tobia Pezzati (Switzerland) and Alessio Tenani.
On Sunday the event moved to the mountains surrounding Bergamo, where the map of Fuipiano, with its steep hills and stony ground suited perfectly to the skills of Sebastian. His races started well, until he caught Alessio Tenani, which started 2’ earlier. At that moment he had a decrease of focus and made several mistakes, but fortunately none of them costed much time. The demanding terrain caused many mistakes to almost all runners, so Sebastian was able to clearly win the race, in front of Alessio and Marco Seppi. It was his first victory in a Coppa Italia and a World Ranking Event, congratulations!
Next weekend the focus will move to Lahti (Finland), where several athletes of the PWT Elite Team will participate at the legendary Jukola relay, which this year counts almost 20000 participants!
