The second stage of the 5+5 Sardinia 2025, week 40 has just come to an end, with more than 200 participants competing in the beautiful setting of Piscinamanna (Pixina Manna), in the heart of the Sulcis mountains near Pula.
After the opening stage at Batteria Boggio, Spiaggia Su Guventuddu, today’s competition took place in a unique context: among forests and natural landscapes surrounding the Sardinia Science and Technology Park, managed by Sardegna Ricerche. Here, research and innovation merge with the beauty of the environment, hosting laboratories, start-ups, and companies active in ICT, biotechnology, and energy.
Alongside the race, thanks to the collaboration with Sardegna Ricerche, some orienteers took part in an innovative scientific project:
“Integrated functional assessment in the orienteering athlete: analysis of the respiratory, cardiovascular, and energy metabolism systems, dietary habits, motor skills, and cognitive-motor functions.”
An opportunity to combine sport and science, exploring new perspectives on athletes’ well-being and performance.
