During the weekend in Chioggia and Mirano, the 33-year-old Swedish athlete, a champion in five different disciplines, will compete for the team led by Gabriele Viale.

She is the world’s strongest orienteer, with a stellar palmares that includes 19 World Championship gold medals and 9 World Cup titles in Orienteering, as well as 10 gold medals in SkiO.

But Tove Alexandersson has also achieved incredible feats in skysnow, skyrunning, trail running, which brought her the 37th world medal at the recent Short Trail Championships in Spain, and ski mountaineering, which she has dedicated herself to since 2019, where she is running to be qualified for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics with the Swedish national team.

The 33-year-old athlete has now reached Italy to train and will also compete in the Italian Orienteering Sprint and Sprint Relay Championships, on October 18 and 19 in Chioggia and Mirano, representing PWT Italy. “It will be fun to compete in the sprint distance in your country – says Tove Alexandersson It’s important for me to continue training for orienteering over the winter”.

“We are honored that Tove has chosen to wear the PWT Italia jersey – says Team Manager Gabriele VialeHer participation, together with the colleague Max Österberg, is part of a multi-year collaboration between our team, one of the most decorated with 33 Italian titles, and the Swedish national orienteering team, which also participated in the recent Debertolis Memorial in Sardinia, between Pula and Alghero. While the Swedes will obviously not be able to compete for the titles up for grabs in Veneto, it will provide our athletes with a further opportunity to compete and grow towards ever-higher performances”.

THE COMPETING TEAMS IN THE RACES

PWT Italy will line up four relays, which for the first time will feature four orienteers for four legs, with the exception of the under 20 category: Caterina Dallera, Sebastian Inderst, Marco Di Stefano and Jessica Lucchetta; Annarita Scalzotto, Giorgio Tonda, Fabio Amadesi and Guenda Zaffanella; Tove Alexandersson, Max Österberg, Lukas Patscheider and Giulia Dissette; Celeste Pretto, Francesco Scalzotto and Sofia Dell’Orto (under 20).

Gabriele Viale’s athletes were able to count on the support of Svetlana Mironova, ex long-distance world champion and now professional coach, who has been working as a technical trainer for a year.
