Today, Monday 5th of January, in Tonadico, in the Primiero Valley, the athletes of the Park World Tour Italia gathered for the official kick-off of the 2026 season.
The day began with a moment of remembrance at the Tonadico cemetery, where Mattia Debertolis, a teammate who passed away prematurely last August, is laid to rest. It was a heartfelt gesture to remember their friend in the places where he grew up and to gather around his family.
Then the group moved to Chalet Piereni, in Val Canali, hosted by the Debertolis family. Mum Erika, brother Nicolò and dad Fabio are now a point of reference for the team: a bond of mutual support and sharing.
In the afternoon, there was a technical and organisational meeting, during which the club’s internal regulations and the 2026 competitive season programme were presented, including the official training camps (in particular: in Barbate, from 7 to 14 January, and MOC Camp, 6-11 March). Among the international trips for athletes, Tiomila in Sweden, Jukola in Finland, and the classic and unmissable O-Ringen, also in Sweden, have been confirmed. Among the topics discussed, particular attention was given to safeguarding regulations.
Team manager Gabriele Viale commented on the day: “This year, we chose to organise the kick-off in a sober and respectful manner, in memory of Mattia Debertolis. We wanted to honour him together with the whole team with a short ceremony at the cemetery where he rests. We then continued our activities in Val Canali, in Piereni, where the family welcomed us with great warmth, especially his mother Erika, at the accommodation facility they run.”
