PWT Italia at O-Ringen: sport, relationships and big projects among the Swedish forests

O-Ringen, the largest orienteering event in the world, is once again this year the stage that brings PWT Italia to Sweden. A team of 8 athletes is at the start of every stage of the five-day event, testing themselves on technical terrain and at one of the highest levels of competition on the international scene.

But the Swedish trip isn’t just about competing. It’s also a chance to bring PWT Italia’s big projects abroad and to strengthen ties, old and new, with the international orienteering community.

Among the initiatives promoted during O-Ringen is Sardinia 5+5, the event scheduled for weeks 40 and 41. Anyone wanting to take advantage of the discounted rate has until July 31st to register: an opportunity not to be missed for anyone dreaming of ten days of orienteering in the Sardinian wilderness.

The most significant moment from an international relations standpoint was the evening organized in the beautiful rural setting of Anders Björklund, where PWT Italia welcomed its Scandinavian ambassadors. An occasion to share and pass on the passion that unites everyone present: mountains, sport and projects looking to the future.

During the evening, guests were taken on a journey through the 2027 initiatives on the Brenta Dolomites, including the Sardinia 4 Research project, and the events 3Tre Campiglio and 5 Days Dolomiti Paganella.

The evening brought together some of the most authoritative figures in Scandinavian and international orienteering:

  • Henrik Eliasson – Secretary General, IOF International Orienteering Federation
  • Thomas Sunesson – Manager, O-Ringen AS, Sweden
  • Håkan Carlsson – National team manager and technical director, Swedish Orienteering Federation; lecturer at Uppsala University
  • Erik Unaas – Board member, Norwegian Olympic Committee; Chair of the Indre Østfold Regional Council, Oslo
  • Bernt Bjørnsgaard – Former Orienteering World Champion, digital developer at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences
  • Merethe Sandum – CEO, Panorama Business Support; Lillehammer University of Sport and Education
  • Claes-Tommy Herland – Journalist and media manager, Norwegian Ski Federation (Norges Skiforbund)
  • The team from Radio O-Ringen

A special thanks goes to our partners Trentingrana and Olio della Valle, always by PWT Italia’s side, and to the Condor Padova team, for the outstanding food that accompanied an evening full of meaningful encounters, stories and smiles.
